Bespoke Nutritional Advice For Hormonal Women

The perimenopause is a period of approximately ten years, leading up to the menopause. The menopause, defined as 12 consecutive months without any periods, occurs at an average age of 51. After this point, the body then transitions into a post-menopausal state. We are here to support you and to acknowledge how challenging this period of change can be.

The Perimenopause

There are over 40 different symptoms linked to the perimenopause. The most publicised (but not the most common) being hot flashes and mood swings, and yet as we have hormone receptors on most cells in our body, we can experience a vast range of symptoms such as joint aches, dry mouth, vaginal dryness, loss of memory and confusion/brain fog, fluctuations in libido, reduced co-ordination/ clumsiness and thinning hair.

At Verto Nutrition, we work with you to achieve a diet and lifestyle that’s optimal to your own circumstances through a balance of appropriate clinical and holistic solutions.

When you’re disconnected from your own body and feel the medical system isn’t interested, it’s natural to become overwhelmed and feel alone. We’re on hand to help you navigate the transition and take ownership of your hormonal health.

KATIE SELMAN - FOUNDER OF VERTO NUTRITION

Katie has always been a scientist at heart. Gaining a BSc (Dual Hons) in Biochemistry and Genetics at Sheffield University, she then worked with big pharmaceutical brands including GlaxoSmithKline.

Following her third pregnancy, Katie was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2014. While steroids were an instant pain relief, she quickly realised that a long term solution was needed to help her find a sustainable way of managing her symptoms. Katie became interested in how to treat the body as a whole, from nutritional factors to lifestyle stressors, so that she could navigate her options and regain control of her health and wellbeing.

Armed with her own personal experience and a desire to help other women understand their bodies better, Katie went on to study a Postgraduate Diploma in Nutritional Medicine from the University of Surrey, and a Diploma in Nutritional Therapy from the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London. Founded by Katie, Verto Nutrition specialises in women’s hormone health and is a member of BANT (the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine) and registered with the CNHC (Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council).

 Treating The Cause

Support for women during the menopause and perimenopause is typically focused on managing symptoms, as opposed to establishing the root cause. At Verto Nutrition, we do things differently.

We understand that no one size fits all women and it takes time to build a course of action that works for you from the ground up.

Bridging the overlap between western medical models and functional therapy, we tailor our plans to your own individual needs. From dietary adjustments and supplements to clinician-led HRT, we know what it takes to help you feel supported through such a turbulent time.
